Dudeldorf is a municipality in the district of Bitburg-Prüm, in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

Geography

Dudeldorf is located approximately 10 km (6 miles) east of Bitburg, 42 km (26 miles) north of Trier, and 32 km (20 miles) east of the border to Luxembourg.

Landmarks

The Village of Dudeldorf is home to an 18th-century castle which is in the town's center and which today hosts occasional art installations, movie presentations and is also incorporated into the town's annual Christmas market. Like most towns founded around the 18th century, the center used to be surrounded by a protective wall that connected the town's 2 city gates (east/west) and also enclosed the castle, which protected the town's center to the north.

Both gates still provide access to the town's center and are wide enough for cars to go through. The western gate is home to a restaurant (Torschaenke), serving traditional Eifel cuisine.

In close proximity to the castle is one of the town's catholic churches (pictured).
