Dru yoga

Dru yoga is a style of yoga that works with postures, breath work, relaxation and meditation. Its series or sequences are called Energy Block Release. According to "Dru World Wide" this yoga style has thousands of practitioners in 31 countries.
The word Dru in the name refers to the hindu deity dhruva, a prince from the Hindu mythology the god Vishnu honored with the eternal abode on the Pole Star (Dhruva Nakshatra in sanskrit).

Dru yoga may either be a centuries-old Indian tradition, or a proprietary style by the spiritual and charitable organisation Life Foundation and its guru Dr. Mansukh Patel. Fact is that Life Foundation and affiliates have registered Dru yoga as their trademark in Australia and the US. [1][2]

Dru yoga works with chakras, in particular the heart chakra. To observe a point of tranquility in a moving universe is the idea, like the Pole Star. It can be practised in classes, at home or in the office. It has five stages:

  1. Activation
  2. Energy Block Release
  3. Dru yoga asanas
  4. Relaxation
  5. Meditation

Since 2001 the Life Foundation and its founder, Mansukh Patel, have run into some seriously bad publicity. It has been accused of spending just a tiny portion of its fund on charity, of (sexual) harassment and exploitation.[3][4][5][6][7][8] Some time in the previous decade the organisation changed its name from Life Foundation School of Therapeutics Ltd[9] to Dru (UK) Ltd[10] and Dru World Wide.
