Dragoslav Bokan (Serbian Cyrillic: Драгослав Бокан; born February 15, 1961) is a Serbian film director and writer.[1]
Biography
Bokan was born on February 15, 1961. He went on to graduate from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts (FDU) at 22. At the end of the 1980s, he moved to the United States for a short period of time. In 1990, he returned to Serbia and, along with Mirko Jović, founded the White Eagles paramilitary group which was active during the Bosnian War from 1992 to 1995. The White Eagles under Bokan were never accused of crimes or atrocities. The White Eagles group that Bokan commanded was the youth section of the Serbian National Renewal.
He wrote for the magazine Pogledi and ran for president of Serbia in the 1992 presidential election. He was leader of the Serbian Fatherland Association party.
Bokan is interviewed in the 1995 BBC documentary series The Death of Yugoslavia and he created the Kosovo is Serbia billboard campaign with quotes from Charles de Gaulle, Winston Churchill, George Washington, JFK and Willy Brandt.[2] In the 1990s, he worked for Belgrade publishing house BIGZ. He also founded the Lepa Srbija, Rusija danas and Vodič za život magazines.
He is a contributor and honourable member of the Urban Book Circle (Canada).[3][4]
