Doreen Virtue is an American author[1] She is the founder of Angel Therapy, a type of New Age therapy based on the idea that "communicating" with angels is the key to healing.[2] Virtue has written over 50 books including a collection of oracle card decks on the subject of angels and other New Age topics.[3]

Virtue was born on April 29, 1958 to a Christian Scientist family in California.[4] She claims to have clairvoyant abilities such as seeing and conversing with spirits since she was a young child.[3] In her twenties, she married Larry Schenk, with whom she had her two sons, Grant and Charles. Virtue has said that Schenk was possessive and emotionally abusive, leading to the couples' eventual divorce.[4]

She was divorced from Michael Tienharra in 1999. Virtue was married and divorced for a fourth time to a man named Steven Farmer,[2][5] fellow Hay House author, they were divorced in 2009. In 2013 she married Michael Robinson aboard a Hay House cruise ship in international water en route to Alaska. The ceremony was performed by Australian author Robert Reeves.
