Donga Ramudu (Telugu: దొంగ రాముడు) is a 1955 Telugu Drama film directed by Kadiri Venkata Reddy and produced by D. Madhusudhana Rao. Lyrics are penned by Samudrala Raghavacharya including the Bhale Tatha Mana Bapuji song on Mahatma Gandhi. The film was archived in the curriculum of the Film and Television Institute of India[1]
The plot
Ramu (Akkineni) and Lakshmi (Jamuna) are siblings. Ramu used to tell lies and get into troubles since childhood. He likes his sister very much. He brings crackers for Deepavali to make his sister happy. He steals medicines for the mother. He was caught and sent to jail. His mother dies and Sister was joined in an Orphanage.
Grown up Ramu and understands the situation. He saves the son of Veerabhadraiah (Relangi) from goonda Babul (R. Nageswara Rao) and joined in their house as worker. Babul tries to spoil Vegetable vendor Seeta (Savitri). Ramu fights with him and saves Seeta. He goes to their house as a rich man and used help his sister. He steals money from Veerabhadraiah and caught once again.
Lakshmi was sent out from the orphanage. She was given shelter by the doctor Mohan (Jaggayya). Ramu also joins as driver in the same house. There is theft in the house, suspicion rests of Ramu. It hurts Lakshmi. The doctor likes Lakshmi and convinces his mother to marry her. During the same time, Babus kills Veerabhadraiah. This crime also falls on Ramu. Seeta connivingly brings out the truth from Babul resulting the arrest. Police arrests Babul and releases Ramu. Ramu and Seeta marries at the end.
