Dong Xuesheng (simplified Chinese: 董学升; traditional Chinese: 董學升; pinyin: Dǒng Xuéshēng; born 22 May 1989 in Dalian, Liaoning) is a Chinese football player who currently plays for Dalian Aerbin as a striker in the Chinese Super League.

Club career

Dong Xuesheng graduated from the Shanghai Shenhua youth team at the end of the 2008 football league season. He made his debut on the 7th of April 2009 for Shanghai Shenhua against Suwon Samsung Bluewings in an AFC Champions League game as a substitute for Mao Jianqing in which Shanghai won 2-1.[1] He made his league debut against Shenzhen Asia Travel F.C. on 17 April 2009 in a 4-1 win.[2] For the rest of the season he became a squad regular where he was used mainly as substitute and eventually scored his first goal on October 31, 2009 in a 2-1 league victory against Changsha Ginde.[3] Miroslav Blažević became the new team manager in the following season and Dong got more playing time. However, after Xi Zhikang was selected as the new coach in the 2011 league season, Dong spent most of his time on bench, and later was loan to Shenzhen Ruby for the second-half season. In Shenzhen he made debut in a league game on the July 10, 2011 in a 2-1 defeat against Tianjin Teda F.C. where he came on as a substitute for Liu Chao.[4] He scored his first hat-trick on 21 August 2011, in a 4-2 home victory against Dalian Shide.[5] He scored 5 goals in 16 appearances for Shenzhen, however, Shenzhen finished the last place of the league and relegated to the second tier. In November 2011, Dong transferred to Super League newcomer Dalian Aerbin.[6]

International career

Dong Xuesheng was called up to the Chinese U-23 football team in 2011 where he was re-united with his previous manager at Shenhua, Miroslav Blažević. He made his debut on June 6, 2011 in a friendly against the Saudi Arabia U-23 team in a 0-0 draw. He was then part of the squad which took part in the 2012 Olympic qualification process where China was knocked-out by the Oman U-23 team in a 4–1 aggregate defeat.[7]
