Dominic Francis Perrottet MP, an Australian politician, is a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing Castle Hill for the Liberal Party of Australia since 2011.[1]

Early life and background

Perottet was born and raised in West Pennant Hills, Sydney.[2]

He was educated at Redfield College in Dural and Oakhill College in Castle Hill. Perrottet was active in student politics whilst studying commerce and law at Sydney University and campaigned for voluntary student unionism.[3] He went on to work as a commercial lawyer for Henry Davis York in the areas of banking restructuring and insolvency law.[2]

Perrottet was the President of the NSW Young Liberals Movement in 2005 and served on the NSW State Executive of the Liberal Party from 2008-2011.

He is active in a number of local community initiatives, including founding and coordinating the Hills Region Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Young Adults Program. Perrottet is also the Patron to the Community Foundation of North Western Sydney, Patron of the Castle Hill RSL Club, Patron of the Redfield Old Roys Rugby Club and a Member of the Glenhaven Lions Club . He also serves on the Hills Shire Australia Day Committee.

Political career

Perrottet won preselection in November 2010 with the backing of right wing powerbroker David Clarke.[4] Clarke battled against Alex Hawke, Federal Member for Mitchell, to gain control of preselections.[5][6]

He was elected to the very safe Liberal seat with a swing of 12.2 per cent and won the seat with 80.8 per cent of the vote on a two party preferred basis following the resignation of previous Liberal MP Michael Richardson.[7] His main opponent was Ryan Tracey, representing Labor.

Perrottet is the Chair of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly Legal Affairs Committee, and is the Joint-Chair of the Sri Lankan Ministerial Consultative Committee.

Perrottet is married to Helen and together they have two daughters, Charlotte and Amelia.
