Djamel Bakar (born 6 April 1989 in Marseille) is a French football player of Comorian descent currently playing for Ligue 1 club Montpellier HSC.

On January 6, 2008, he scored three goals for AS Monaco against Stade Brestois 29 in the Coupe de France. A very impressive performance for a player of only 18 years, he was commended for this by the French press, and match commentators.[1] Bakar has been linked to various top-flight European clubs such as VfL Bochum, Reggina and West Ham United. On 31 August 2009 AS Nancy have signed the forward from AS Monaco.[2]

Personal life

His brother Ibor represents Comoros at senior level.
