Dino Dini

Dino Dini (born June 5, 1965) is a British computer game developer specializing in football games. According to an article on the GameSpot website, Dini created influential titles such as Kick Off (1989), Player Manager (1990), Dino Dini's Goal (1993), and Dino Dini's Football (1994).[1] As of 2009, he is a lecturer at the IGAD programme of NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, teaching game programming.[2]

Career

In 1989 Dini's first football game was released under the name Kick Off. The game received very good reviews and was followed by the popular games Player Manager, Kick Off 2, Goal! and Dino Dini's Soccer in the 1990s.[3] In 1996, Dini moved to the United States to work as Project Director for the Z-axis football game Three Lions. It was released in 1998 and reached #1[citation needed] in the UK.[4]

In 2001 Dini moved back to Great Britain and started to work with his new development company, Abundant Software. In 2004 Dini signed with DC-Studios to develop a new soccer game[5] which was code-named Soccer 3 and later Total Control Football. The game was cancelled during the summer of 2005.[citation needed]

After 2005 Dini worked as a contractor on a government funded project. In 2009, he became a lecturer at the IGAD programme of NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, teaching game programming. At the 2009 Game Developers Conference Europe (GDCE) in Cologne, Germany, Dini was guest speaker on the subject of video game design.[6][7]

In 2010 Dino ran unsuccessfully for the IGDA board of directors.[8] In August of that year he announced via his blog that he was working on a sequel to his game Player Manager as an independent project.[9] In July 2011 he wrote articles on a free MMO and MMORPG website.[10]

In December 2011, Dini developed Letteroids 3D. The beta version of the browser-based game was published by MMO games and reviews website [11]

Dini also works as a consultant and developer through his company Igneous Entertainment Limited.[12]
