Digitalis Purpurea is the pseudonym of the electronic music producer Cristian Marovino.
About
DIGITALIS PURPUREA is a 'one-man project' created in 2003 by Cristian Marovino a.k.a. Pi_Greco.
Cristian Pi_Greco is an Electronic Music Producer of the international underground industrial music scene. Very industrious as Songwriter, Multi-Instrumentalist, Beatmaker, Remixer and DJ.
Signed to the German label "Danse Macabre Records" DIGITALIS PURPUREA is a non-conform mixture of Industrial Music, Electronica, Black Metal and Desertic sound scapes.
DigiTech® Official Endorser and international representative artist of various DigiTech's gears such us the 'VX400 multi-effects processor'.[1]
Musically involved in notable productions and unconventional collaborations he worked with top-artists such as Ted Jensen, Danny Saber, Das Ich & Bruno Kramm and many others.
Digitalis Purpurea is the botanic name of the Purple Foxglove, a plant symbol of temptation, pleasant but at the same time destructive. Traditionally the foxglove was used as medical plant but had also an obscure use, an overdose in fact is lethal. That's why it was called "devil's finger". Particularly Pi Greco chose the name referring to a poem by Giovanni Pascoli "Digitale Purpurea".
He played in major international festivals and clubs such as the Wave-Gotik-Treffen[2] in 2013 and Slimelight UK in 2012.
DIGITALIS PURPUREA worldwide released three albums and two EPs entering the Top 10 of DAC - Deutsche Alternative Charts with the record "30-hole and Fred Perry".
"30-hole and Fred Perry" is the third chapter of the DIGITALIS PURPUREA's "cinematic trilogy".
The two previous excerpts are the full-length albums "Aseptic White" and "Emotional Decompression Chamber", released by the indie label 'Aural Music'.[3]
Mainly inspired by B movie and extreme artforms they led Cristian Marovino to be a cult artist of the industrial music genre.
