Diante do Trono (Before the Throne) is a contemporary Christian music band from Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The group is led by worship leader Ana Paula Valadão.
History
The band formed at Lagoinha Baptist Church in 1997 when the leadership of the church wanted to raise money for charity in India. In one year, they gathered all the necessary structure and recorded their debut album, Diante do Trono recorded in 1998. Although they're the top selling gospel band, they became well known by the large number of people drawn to their annual live recordings, such as the 2 million people in the recording of their 2003 live album Quero Me Apaixonar, in São Paulo. Their 2001 album Preciso de Ti is the best-selling album in the whole gospel music history in Brazil with over 2 million copies sold. In total the Diante do Trono has sold over 10 million records, and is known as the largest worship ministry in Latin America.
Many names in gospel music also emerged of Diante do Trono as the André Valadão, Mariana Valadão, Nívea Soares and Ana Nóbrega.
Diante do Trono they have released over 25 albums and is the most successful gospel group from Brazil. They have won 24 Talent Trophys which is a Brazilian award, similar to the Dove Awards, more than any other band. The year they won more was in 2004, when they received 8 nominations and won 7. In 2008, Diante do Trono was honored at Programa of Raul Gil, a famous Brazilian TV program of channel SBT, for their acclamation in the gospel music. The band also works in a philanthropic cause, the Project Ashastan, a recovery house in India for victims of child prostitution.
