Devin Velez (born April 22, 1994) is an American singer from Chicago, Illinois, who came in eighth place on the twelfth season of American Idol.[1]

Devin Velez was born on April 22, 1994, in Chicago, Illinois.[citation needed]

Velez had auditioned for The Voice and The X Factor prior to American Idol. He was a high school student at Rickover Naval Academy High School working at Starbucks.[2]

Overview

Velez auditioned in Chicago, Illinois. In the semi-finals, Velez performed "Somos Novios (It's Impossible)" by Armando Manzanero. On March 7, 2013, Velez was voted into the Top 10.[3] He received the lowest amount of votes after his Top 8 performance. He was sent home on March 28, 2013, after the judges decided against using their "Judges' Save" power.[1]
