Deva Katta (Devadoss Koushik Katta[1] ) is an Indian-born American-citizen and a filmmaker in Tollywood. He won Filmfare Best Film Critics Choice Award for his recent classic film Prasthanam. [2]

Early life

Deva Katta is from railway kodur, Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh. His family moved to Chennai and Deva Katta was brought up there. . He studied in Chennai with a mechanical engineering degree from Satyabhama Engineering College. He later moved to the US for higher studies and obtained a master of science in mechanical engineering from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. Deva Katta progressed into filmmaking while working as a full-time engineer in the automobile industry in the US. He is a US citizen and one of the most sought after filmmakers in Tollywood, India.

Career

He holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked as a vehicle crashworthiness expert in General Motors.

He graduated from film school before making a digital documentary film about Indian students in USA, which was titled Valasa. He then debuted as a successful writer & director with a romantic comedy flick Vennela, set against Indian students in America. In 2010 Telugu film industry witnessed a classic film Prasthanam from him, starring Sharvanand and Sai Kumar. Deva Katta is one of most sought after directors in Tollywood.
