Deutsch-Griffen (Slovene: Slovenj Grebinj ) is a town in the district of Sankt Veit an der Glan in Austrian state of Carinthia.

Geography

Deutsch-Griffen lies in the north of Carinthia abtou 30 km northwest of Klagenfurt in a left tributary valley of the Gurk on the Griffnerbach. The municipality extends from the Gurka to the Styrian border in the eastern Nock Mountains. On the north edge of the municipality, there is a sparsely populated area along the Paalbach, which is cut off from the rest of the municipality and can only be reached from the town of Deutsch-Griffen in a very roundabout way. Therefore, it is locally considered to belong to Flattnitz. The neighboring municipalities in Carinthia are Glödnitz and Albeck. On the north, the municipality borders Styria.
