Destiny? is the second studio album by the Canadian progressive rock band Mystery. Released in 1998, it is the last Mystery album to feature Gary Savoie on lead vocals,[2] as well as the first to feature Patrick Bourque on bass and Steve Gagné on drums. Destiny? was reissued in 2009 as a 10th anniversary edition with a new mix, a bonus track and new artwork.[3]

Production

Background

Mystery's lineup had changed drastically from their previous album, Theatre of the Mind, and had only two of the same members from the album. Bassist Richard Addison left the band in 1994 after finishing his parts for Theatre of the Mind and was replaced by Patrick Bourque, who had played as a session musician on the album. Keyboardist Benoît Dupuis and acoustic guitarist and saxophonist Michel Painchaud had left the band in 1995, leaving the band with four members. Then, drummer Stéphane Perreault had left during recording sessions for Destiny?. Gilles Peltier, the owner of a studio Mystery was recording at, knew Steve Gagné and mentioned him. He was given three songs to learn in a short time frame and when his recording of the tracks was heard, it impressed Michel St-Père and then Gary Savoie very much, leading Steve to become a full time member of the band.
