Denton Fox (1948 2013) was a professional American football cornerback. He played college football at Texas Tech University and was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the 3rd round (75th overall) of the 1970 NFL Draft.

Early years

Fox, attended Claude High School. He moved on to play college football at Texas Tech University, where his combination of size and speed was not common at the time for a cornerback. In 1969, he had 4 interceptions and was named first-team All-American and All-SWC.[1]

In 2001, he was inducted into the Texas Tech Athletic Hall of Fame.[2] In 1989, he was inducted into the Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame.

Professional career

Fox was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the 3rd round (75th overall) of the 1970 NFL Draft.[3] He was waived before the season started. After his release, he also had tryouts with the Atlanta Falcons and the Chicago Bears.

Personal life

He died on April 29, 2013, two days after being hospitalized when he suffered an acute brain-stem stroke, his fourth stroke since 2010.[4]
