Demet Akbağ (born 23 December 1959 in Denizli) is a Turkish theatre and film actress.
Biography
Demet Akbağ was born in Denizli, Turkey in 1959. She started her professional career with a play in Gönül Ülkü/Gazanfer Özcan Theatre. Akbag, who joined many theatre groups, started to work for various TV shows in 1987. The same year she was chosen TV Star of The Year by the Association Of Magazine Reporters. Demet Akbag was awarded with prizes like the Golden and Sadri Alisik Best Character Actor for her role in “Vizontele”, the Afife Jale Best Female Actor for “Sen Hic Atesbocegi Gordun Mu?”, the Altin Portakal for “Tersine Dunya” in 1993, the Ismail Dumbullu (the first actress to get this prize after Suna Pekuysal) in 1995, the Altin Kelebek – Best Comedy Star Of The Year in 1996,1997 and 1998, and the MGD-Comedy Artist Award in 1996 and 1997. She worked with the BKM Actors since their foundation and took roles in the TV show “Bir Demet Tiyatro”, in plays like “Otogargara”,”Sen Hic Atesbocegi Gordun Mu?”, “ Bana Bir Seyhler Oluyor” and the leading role in the film “Vizontele”. In the TV series “Olumsuz Ask” Demet Akbag played the lead role and in the cinema films “Neredesin Firuze”, “Eyyvah Eyvah” and “Eyyvah Eyvah 2”.
