The Delhi Defenders are an American football team in the Elite Football League of India based in Delhi, India. The team was founded in 2011 and began its first season of play in September 2012.[1] The Defenders' matches for the inaugural season were held in Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.[2]
The Defenders were one of eight teams competing in the EFLI's first season. The EFLI is India's first professional American football league, and its launch was backed by the Government of India and the Sports Authority of India.
