Delfim José Fernandes Rola Teixeira, simply known as Delfim (born 5 February 1977), is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a defensive midfielder.

Football career

Delfim was born in Amarante. After emerging as a 20-year-old in the Portuguese first division with Boavista FC, he signed with Sporting Clube de Portugal, being an essential midfield element alongside Argentine Aldo Duscher in the Lions' 1999–2000 league conquest, after an 18-year draught.

In 2001 Delfim moved to Olympique de Marseille in France, but also began an excruciating battle with injuries,[1][2] appearing very rarely with the Ligue 1 outfit and almost retiring from football. In January 2002 he was reunited with former Sporting teammate Dimas and, after an unassuming stint with BSC Young Boys, eventually returned to Portugal.

Delfim was able to revive his career in 2007–08, being very important as Associação Naval 1º de Maio retained its top level status. In the following season he moved to newcomer C.D. Trofense, retiring at the age of 32 after the campaign ended in relegation.
