Dejan Despić

Dejan Despić (born 11 May 1930 in Belgrade) is a Serbian composer, music theoretician, writer and pedagogue. He studied composition with Marko Tajčević and conducting with Mihajlo Vukdragović at the Belgrade Music Academy (1950-1955), where he later became a professor (1965-1995). He composed more than 170 works in all genres except that of musicals. He is especially renowned for his piano and various chamber pieces, as well as for his concert composition. He is a member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
