"Deathstar" is a digital single from the album Alpha from American heavy metal band Sevendust. The song has a heavy melody and is one of the band's heaviest singles. The band didn't make a music video for this song.
Before the release of Alpha, "Deathstar" was to be the first radio single, but instead was released as a digital single and "Driven" was released to radio.
The song has hard rock roots, punk influences, a subtle use of paired vocal harmony, call and, answer vocal harmony (antiphony), extensive vamping, paired vocal harmony, a vocal-centric aesthetic, minor key tonality, electric guitar riffs, a gravelly male vocalist, an aggressive male vocalist, prominent drums.
The title of the song, clearly a reference to Star Wars, is nothing more than a working title that, like with a few of the band's other notable songs, ended up being the official title when the band couldn't come up with an official title.
