Dead Space was the only album released by Omaha, Nebraska natives Slowdown Virginia. Released by Lumberjack Records (which later became Saddle Creek) in 1994, the album was pressed in a finite amount of copies (aimed at the local scene without expecting a much larger fan base).
Shortly after the release of the album, Slowdown Virginia broke up. Most the members went on to form Cursive, who have since become major contenders in the indie rock circuit, making Dead Space a major collector's item.
