DeWayne Bruce[3] (born May 14, 1962) is a professional wrestler, best known by his ring name, Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker and his nickname Sarge. Bruce was a trainer at the WCW Power Plant wrestling school. Bruce worked primarily for World Championship Wrestling.

Professional wrestling career

As Sergeant Buddy Lee Parker, DeWayne Bruce wrestled in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) with tag partner Lieutenant James Earl Wright as The State Patrol.[4] He became a member of the Dungeon of Doom under the short-lived identity Braun The Leprechaun[1] before being repackaged as "Military Man" Jack Boot.[5] Boot only lasted a short time before Buddy Lee Parker returned, this time as a Military Sergeant. Bruce's final wrestling persona was simply Sarge, and after this, he became a trainer at the official WCW wrestling school, the Power Plant.[1] He would occasionally pop up on WCW Saturday Night as a jobber during his lesser famed career, and WCW commentators would credit him multiple times for training the highly popular Bill Goldberg. Towards the end of WCW, Bruce was involved in a somewhat major storyline where he teamed up with Goldberg to wrestle against Lex Luger and Buff Bagwell.

During 1991 and 1992, Bruce also traveled to Japan, and competed in All Japan Pro Wrestling, while in contract with WCW. Bruce teamed with a variety of tag-team partners in AJPW. However, AJPW like WCW used Bruce as "enhancement talent" (jobber) Despite being used as a jobber, Bruce gained a few victories in AJPW. Bruce stopped competing for AJPW in March 1992, by going back to WCW.

Bruce despite being a jobber, obtained a few victories, mostly against another jobbers, and mid-carders, however, Bruce also, lost matches against newcomers, and opponents easily dominated Bruce.

Bruce also made an appearance on Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends. When Theroux asked him about the use of storylines in wrestling, Bruce felt this was disrespectful, and forced Theroux to exercise until he was physically sick.

WWE Superstar Batista says he went for an open trial at WCW's Powerplant, where Bruce drilled him and a friend into the ground, causing them to throw up viciously. Despite that, Bruce reportedly demanded that the pair continue. Batista believes Bruce has "the biggest case of Napoleon syndrome" ever and he considers Bruce a "piece of shit."[6] As well as being known for his tough tryouts at the WCW Power Plant, he is also known for his "Who's Who list that was trained at the WCW Power Plant such as Bill Goldberg, Chuck Palumbo, and Torrie Wilson.
