Dayro Mauricio Moreno Galindo (born 16 September 1985 in Chicoral, Tolima, Colombia) is a Colombian footballer currently playing as a forward for Millonarios in the Categoría Primera A.

Club career

Once Caldas

Dayro Moreno won the Copa Libertadores 2004 with Once Caldas beating Boca Juniors in the final. In that same year he played with Once Caldas the Intercontinental Cup final, lost after a penalty shoot-out against UEFA Champions League winners FC Porto.

In the summer of 2007 there were rumours and subsequent offers for Dayro to play in the Croatian league. But hearing Boca Juniors had interest in him, and demanding too much from the Croatians the deal was cancelled, and in 2007 he resumed play for Caldas.

In January 2008 after an outstanding season with Once Caldas and a legendary performance against Argentina in the South American Qualifiers where he scored the game-winning goal (2–1), he joined Romanian team Steaua Bucureşti playing alongside Colombians Róbinson Zapata and Pepe Moreno, who was part of the team at the time.

Steaua paid for him a fee of US$2 million.

In 2009–10, Dayro was demoted to the B squad. He agreed to play for the second team until he is prepared to come back to the first squad.

In October 2009, following a series of good games for the B squad he was called back to the first team by the new Steaua manager, Stoichiţă.

2010 to present

On 24 January 2010, he returned to Once Caldas on a fee around $500.000. In the summer of 2011 he was linked with a transfer in Portugal to Sporting Lisbon, but the deal was canceled after he was offered a lower wage than he requested.[1]

On 2 June 2011, it was announced that Moreno would move to Mexican team Xoloitzcuintles de Tijuana for a fee of US$ 3.5 million. He will play for Club Tijuana for the next three seasons.[2]

On 1 February 2012, he rejoined Once Caldas after rejecting a $ 400,000 offer from Universidad de Chile.

He joined Junior at late July to play the second part of the Colombian tournament.

On July 2013, the Ascenso MX side Correcaminos UAT announced that Moreno would join them the upcoming season. However, Moreno then changed his mind and moved to Millonarios Futbol Club after stating that he did not wanted to join a Second Division side.

In 2013, after returning from Xolos of Tijana, he signed with Millonarios Futbol Club in the 2 semester to the Colombian league.

In January 2014, he was scouted by Zheros FC. After close inspection from the manager, he then signed for the club for a fee of around 17,000 coins. He made an impressive debut for them scoring 2 goals and an assist.

International career

Dayro has played for Colombia national football team U20 squad, where he shined. He currently has 17 caps in the Colombian national football team and has scored 2 goals.
