The Davona Dale Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race held annually in February at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida. It is open to fillies, age three, willing to race one and one-eighth miles on the dirt. The race is a Grade II event with a purse of $250,000 and has been a prep race to the Triple Tiara of Thoroughbred Racing, including the Kentucky Oaks, the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes and Mother Goose Stakes.
The Davona Dale is named after Calumet Farm's champion homebred filly born in 1976 by Best Turn out of Royal Entrance by Tim Tam, who not only won the Grade I Kentucky Oaks as a 3-year-old, but the New York Triple Crown for Fillies as a three-year-old: the Acorn Stakes, the Mother Goose Stakes, and the Coaching Club American Oaks, all grade ones. She is the only filly to win the Kentucky Oaks, the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes as well as the races that now make up the Triple Tiara. Davona Dale was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1976. She also ranks #90 in Blood-Horse magazine List of the Top 100 Racehorses of the 20th Century.
