David B. McBride[1] (born June 23, 1942 in Wilmington, Delaware) is an American politician and a Democratic member of the Delaware Senate since January 13, 1981 representing District 13.[2] McBride has served in the Delaware General Assembly continuously since 1979, in the Delaware House of Representatives until 1981.

Education

McBride earned his BS and MS in civil engineering from the University of Delaware.

Elections

  • 2012 McBride was unopposed for both the September 11, 2012 Democratic Primary and the November 6, 2012 General election, winning with 14,444 votes.[3]
  • 1978 When Democratic Representative Robert L. Byrd retired and left the House District 15 seat open, McBride won the 1978 Democratic Primary and won the four-way November 7, 1978 General election with 3,109 votes (80%) against Republican nominee Catherine Kelly and two others.[4]
  • 1980 When Democratic Senator Francis J. Kearns retired and left the Senate District 13 seat open, McBride won the 1980 Democratic Primary and was unopposed for the November 4, 1980 General election, winning with 6,222 votes.[5]
  • 1982 McBride won the 1982 Democratic Primary and was unopposed for the November 2, 1982 General election, winning with 6,485 votes.[6]
  • 1986 McBride won the September 6, 1986 Democratic Primary with 1,180 votes (75%) and won the November 4, 1986 General election with 4,477 votes (65.9%) against Republican nominee D. Drew Angeline.[7]
  • 1990 McBride won the 1992 Democratic Primary and was unopposed for the November 6, 1990 General election, winning with 5,197 votes.[8]
  • 1992 McBride was unopposed for both the September 12, 1992 Democratic Primary and the November 3, 1992 General election, winning with 9,231 votes.[9]
  • 1996 McBride was unopposed for both the September 7, 1996 Democratic Primary and the November 5, 1996 General election, winning with 9,300 votes.[10]
  • 2000 McBride was unopposed for both the September 9, 2000 Democratic Primary and the November 7, 2000 General election, winning with 11,190 votes.[11]
  • 2002 McBride was unopposed for both the September 10, 2002 Democratic Primary and the November 5, 2002 General election, winning with 6,337 votes.[12]
  • 2006 McBride was unopposed for both the September 12, 2006 Democratic Primary and the November 7, 2006 General election, winning with 7,152 votes.[13]
  • 2010 McBride was unopposed for both the September 17, 2010 Democratic Primary and the November 2, 2010 General election, winning with 8,736 votes.[14]
