From 2006 to 2012 he represented the 45th district, made up of parts of Arlington and Fairfax Counties and the city of Alexandria.[1] (Englin was born David Lawrence English, but when he and Shayna Beth Wolin married in 1996, the two combined their last names to Englin.)
Englin is an Eagle Scout.[2] He announced he would not seek reelection to the House of Delegates in 2013 because he had been unfaithful to his wife.[3]
