Professor David J. Richardson is a British academic who is currently Professor of Microbial Biochemistry and Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of East Anglia.[1] In January 2014 it was announced that he would take up the post of Vice-Chancellor of the University of East Anglia from September 2014.[2] He was educated at the University of Keele (BSc, Biochemistry), and the University of Birmingham (PhD, 1988) and undertook post-doctoral research at the University of Oxford from 1988-1991. He joined the University of East Anglia as a lecturer in 1991, became a Professor in 2001, and was appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor in 2012.[3] He was awarded the Society for General Microbiology Fleming Medal in 1999 and is a recipient of the Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award. He is a member of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council.
