David Aparecido da Silva (born 12 November 1989), commonly known as David Da Silva or Davi Da Silva is a Brazilian footballer who played for League of Ireland Premier Division club Shelbourne but is now unattached to a club after being released at the end of Shelbournes promotion winning season. David previously had a brief spell with Maltese club Birkirkara before transferring to Shelbourne in August 2011.

Career

Birkirkara

Da Silva joined Maltese club Birkirkara on 20 June 2011. Da Silva played his first game for Birkirkara on 23 June in a pre-season Triangular Tournament match against Valletta, the game finished 2–2. On 30 June Da Silva came on as a substitute in Birkirkara's 1–0 loss against Albanian club KS Vllaznia Shkodër in the first leg of the 2011–12 UEFA Europa League First qualifying round.[1] Da Silva started the second leg in the Loro Boriçi Stadium, Shkodër. Da Silva scored the equalising goal for Birkirkara in a 1–1 draw with Vllaznia, Birkirkara's first goal in either the UEFA Cup or Europa League since 2004.[2] Da Silva was released by Birkirkara in August 2011, after just two months with the Maltese club.

Shelbourne

On 11 August 2011 Da Silva joined Irish club Shelbourne.[3] On 12 August, Da Silva made his Shelbourne debut as a substitute in a 3–1 victory against Longford Town.[4] Da Silva played his first game in Tolka Park for the Reds in a 3–2 defeat in the 2011 FAI Cup Fourth Round against Non-League club Sheriff YC, however Sheriff were later ejected from the Cup for fielding an ineligible player and the game was declared Void. Da Silva played his next match for the Reds in the next round of the cup in a 4–3 victory over Limerick. He made a substitute appearance in the cup semi final in a 1–1 draw with St Patrick's Athletic. He made his second league appearance for Shelbourne in a 4–1 victory away to Salthill Devon. Da Silva was forced to watch from the sidelines as Shelbourne narrowly lost the league title to Cork City and then the 2011 FAI Cup Final to Sligo Rovers on a penalty shoot-out.
