Dave Parsons

Dave Parsons (born David Richard Parsons, 2 July 1965, Hillingdon, London, UK) is a British bass guitarist.

Life and career

He grew up with his mother, Annie Gration, and his four siblings, Ralph (older brother), Trudi (older sister), Fleur (younger sister), and Rosie (younger sister). He used to be a clerk in a clothes shop, but since then has gone on to play bass guitarist for a number of bands.

Parsons learned to play bass guitar, and amongst the bands he played with were Future Primitive (later to be renamed Bush), Transvision Vamp, The Partisans, and Dig:Dig:Dig. Parsons has noted that some of his biggest musical influences over the years have been David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Sex Pistols, The Clash, and Bob Marley.^{[citation needed]}

Parsons joined Transvision Vamp after fellow members Wendy James and Nick Christian Sayer had moved to London, and had signed a recording contract with MCA Records in the winter of 1986. Parsons met up with the two at a pub he frequented in Notting Hill. Two months after forming Transvision Vamp, the band recorded "Revolution Baby", followed by the video, and then concentrated on being a live band. By 1988 and 1989, Transvision Vamp were successful worldwide, with hits including "I Want Your Love" and "Baby I Don’t Care". Their third album was released in 1991, but the band then broke up.

Parsons met up in 1992 with Gavin Rossdale and Nigel Pulsford, adding the drummer Robin Goodridge to eventually become Bush.

On 2 June 2000, Parsons' girlfriend Sarah Chope gave birth to a girl named Eden. Parsons was credited for the original theme to the film short, Sixty Cups of Coffee, released in 2000. Since Bush stopped touring in 2002 not much news of Parsons has surfaced. He had a second child (Billy) in 2002, and a third (Frank) in 2007. Parsons decided not to be a part of the Bush reunion in 2010.^[1]
