Dave Clayton

Dave Clayton is a British keyboard player and record producer. He has recorded or played with, among others, Simply Red, ABC, Depeche Mode and Paul McCartney. He also has production credits with Kraftwerk and The Human League.

Clayton joined Simply Red for their Home album. He was a band member of ABC for three years and has also toured with George Michael, Marc Almond and Jason Donovan, to name a few.

He has recorded with the likes of U2, Bob Marley, Sinéad O'Connor, Depeche Mode, Paul McCartney, George Michael, Elton John, The Beloved and Robbie Williams.

As a producer, he has worked with Take That, The Human League, Kraftwerk, C.C. Catch, Les McKeown and Lenny Henry. He also has writing credits for Sinéad O'Connor, Bomb the Bass, Michael Hutchence and ABC. Dave's personal project is The Pressure Zone.

David currently performs with Simply Red and also composed with Mick Hucknall, 2 songs on the latest Simply Red album STAY.

Career

Clayton has 25 years of experience playing keyboards and synthesizers. He joined his first band 'Celebration' in 1982 before being spotted by 'ABC' and joining them as a keyboard player for a world tour. After the tour he formed a band with Dave Palmer, now Rod Stewart’s drummer and signed to Epic/CBS as 'Person To Person'. The group did two supporting tours and an album 'Stronger Than Reason'. From 1986 he had brief stints playing with the bands 'Animal Nightlife' and 'Carmel'.
