Dashkin

Dashkin is a village in the district Astore, 85 km from Gilgit, capital of the Northern Areas of Pakistan.

Dashkin is famous for certain rare species of wildlife, such as the Astor Markhor (a species of Ibex) and the Snow Leopard. The people of Dashkin are good at typical traditional sports like swimming, riding, hunting, kabdi, basra and rasa kashi. The village is full of natural resources. The Dichil nallah of Dashkin is full of gemstones and natural beauty. Initially inhabitants of this remote village were mired in deep enmities and tribes and families would spend all their resources and energies in avenging the family feuds, however, with education spreading, people are now aspiring for getting their children educated instead of pursing family feuds known in the area as " Kanai".
