Darian Durrell Barnes (born February 28, 1980 in Toms River, New Jersey) is an American football fullback who is currently a member of the Florida Tuskers. He was signed by the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2002. He played college football at Hampton.

Barnes has also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions and New Orleans Saints. He earned a Super Bowl ring with the Buccaneers in Super Bowl XXXVII.

Early years

Barnes played high school football at Toms River High School North under coach Bob Nani, where he was recognized as second team all-state by The Star-Ledger during his senior year.[1]

College career

Barnes played college football at Hampton after transferring from Rutgers.

Professional career

Originally signed as an undrafted free agent out of Hampton University by the New York Giants, Barnes has played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2002–2003), Dallas Cowboys (2004), Miami Dolphins (2005–2006) and New York Jets (2007). On November 28, 2007 the Jets released him.

Buffalo Bills

On January 17, 2008, the Buffalo Bills signed him as the first move for both Turk Schonert as offensive coordinator and Russ Brandon as Vice President. This marked the return of the fullback to the Buffalo Bills' offensive system.

Barnes was released four games into the 2008 season on September 30. The Bills signed fullback Corey McIntyre to take his place on the roster.

Detroit Lions

Barnes was signed by the Detroit Lions on October 28, 2008 after the team released defensive tackle Langston Moore. The Lions released Barnes on November 11 when the team re-signed running back Aveion Cason.

New Orleans Saints

Barnes was signed by the New Orleans Saints on November 18, 2008. Barnes was waived on December 21, 2008. He was re-signed to a future contract following the end of the season. He was released on July 23, 2009.

Personal

He has created a comic book called "National Triumph League" along with a partner, which sees professional athletes blessed with superhuman talent.[2] Barnes and his wife, Rebecca, have a daughter, Damara.[3]
