Dante Alighieri Academy (Official name: Dante Alighieri Catholic Academy; also known as Dante Alighieri, DAA, Dante Alighieri Academy Catholic Secondary School, Dante Alighieri Academy CSS or Dante) is a Toronto Catholic District School Board-based high school serving Lawrence Heights in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, founded in 1974 by the Sisters of St. John the Baptist. It is named after Dante Alighieri, a major Italian poet of the Middle Ages in the 13th century.
A satellite campus, was established in 2006 as Dante Alighieri Academy Beatrice Campus (Dante Alighieri Beatrice, DAABC, or Dante Beatrice) due to overcrowding conditions at the main campus. The campus is also named after Beatrice Portinari,[1] a Florentine woman who has been commonly identified as the principal inspiration for Dante's works.
