Daniel Vidot (born 8 February 1990 in Brisbane, Queensland) is an Australian rugby league player with the Brisbane Broncos. Formerly playing for the Canberra Raiders and the St. George Illawarra Dragons, he plays in the position of winger, but can also play fullback or centre.[2] He is of Samoan, New Zealand and Irish descent

Early years

Daniel played his junior football at Souths Acacia Ridge. He also attended Daramalan College in Canberra.

Canberra Raiders

After showcasing his talent in the Canberra Raiders U/20 Toyota Cup team (who won the Grand Final in that season) Vidot was called on to make his first grade debut for the Raiders against the Knights in round 17 of the 2009 NRL season. Since his debut Vidot scored 9 tries in only 13 matches including against the Knights in which he over powered 2 defenders to put the ball down in the corner. He was selected in the Samoan train on squad in 2010, but withdrew so he would remain able to play for Queensland.[3]

In the 2011 NRL season, he played in 12 games. In these 12 matches, he scored 5 tries.

St. George Illawarra Dragons

He signed with the St George Illawarra Dragons starting in the 2012 season on a 3 year deal.[4] The deal was made on 30 August 2011.

Vidot scored his first NRL try for the Dragons in round 3 of 2012 against the West Tigers.

Brisbane Broncos

He signed with the Broncos on 15th October on a 2 year deal starting in 2014.[5]

International career

Daniel was selected to play for Samoa in a 2010 international test match against New Zealand, but did not play, pulling out just before kick-off due to injury. 3 years later, he was again selected for Samoa, and this time he did play. He was selected to play in a Test match against Tonga on the 20th of April. He scored the Samoan's only try in the 36-4 defeat. He was selected for the Samoans again later in the year, to feature in their 2013 Rugby League World Cup campaign. He appeared in all four of Samoa's World Cup games and he scored one try against the French in the group stage.
