Daniel Peter Roche (pronounced rowsh, /ˈroʊʃ/),[1] born 14 October 1999) is an English child actor, best known for playing Ben Brockman in the BBC One sitcom Outnumbered between 2007 and 2014.[2]

Life

Roche is the son of Judith (née Haines) and rugby journalist Anthony "Tony" Roche, the youngest of three boys,[3] and attended the Susi Earnshaw Theatre School,[4] before moving on to the independent University College School in Hampstead, London.[5]

Career

As well as his appearances in Outnumbered, for which he was nominated for 'Best Male Newcomer' at the 2009 British Comedy Awards for his role as Ben, Roche has also appeared in the BBC One show Casualty, the 2008 film Off Season and a number of television commercials, including one for Kingsmill bread.

Roche played the title role in a new BBC adaptation of Just William, which aired at Christmas 2010.[6] He also appeared in the Sky1 comedy series Little Crackers, as a young Stephen Fry on 20 December 2010. Daniel is also doing the voice over as the character Eric on the BBC programme A Day In The Life Of A 10 Year Old. He also was the Secret Santa on Friday Download's Christmas Download on Christmas Day 2011. He also stars on Dani's House, playing Lawrence "Megaboyd", Dani's cousin. Roche has also introduced 'Anne Frank's Thirteen in 13 campaign', and Took part in the 'Live below the line' for Save the children; all in April, 2013
