Daniel Portman (born 13 February 1992) is a Scottish actor most notable for his role as Podrick Payne in the TV series Game of Thrones.
Early life
Daniel was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He grew up in Strathbungo, a small settlement within Glasgow. He attended Shawlands Academy where he was Head Boy in his final year, he played rugby for the school.[1]
Career
Daniel Portman has been acting since he was 16, and studied a HNC in acting and performing at Reid Kerr College in Paisley.[2] His first role was in 2010's Outcast where he starred as Paul alongside Doctor Who star Karen Gillan and James Nesbitt. This was followed by a role in popular Scottish soap opera River City.[3] His second film role was a small part in Scottish comedy The Angel's Share. It was announced on 24 August 2011 that he would be making his international TV debut and break through role in award winning HBO fantasy drama Game of Thrones. His role was to be squire Podrick Payne to Peter Dinklage's character Tyrion Lannister[4] Daniel's representation of 'Pod' has received positive acclaim from fans on Twitter.[5]
