Daniel E. "Chick" McLean was an American politician who served as Mayor of Beverly, Massachusetts from 1937 to 1949,[2] Deputy Chairman of the Massachusetts Republican State Committee from 1949 to 1950, a member of the Massachusetts Public Building Commission in 1951, City Manager of Haverhill, Massachusetts from 1951[3] to 1955, Town Manager of Saugus, Massachusetts from 1956 to 1958, and Chairman of the Massachusetts Republican State Committee from 1958[4] to 1961.

He was a candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts in 1950. He finished fourth in the Republican primary with 11.64% of the vote.[5]

McLean resigned as Republican Chairman in 1961 after he was appointed by Governor John A. Volpe to serve as Chairman of the State Appellate Tax Board and later as a member of the State Industrial Accident Board.
