Dane James Vilas (born 10 June 1985 in Johannesburg, Transvaal Province) is a South African cricketer. An aggressive right-handed batsman who is suited to limited overs more than first-class cricket despite an average in the mid-40's, and a reliable wicket-keeper, Vilas is seen by many as Mark Boucher's likely successor.

Domestic career

After four successful seasons at the Lions, Vilas moved to the Cape Cobras in search of more opportunity due to the emergence of Thami Tsolekile and Quinton de Kock at his former club. Vilas proved to be an indispensable asset, contributing with bat and gloves in all formats.

International career

Vilas made his international debut against India in a one-off T20I. He did take or catch and was not required to bat. He then went with the South African team to a triangular between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. However, Vilas appeared to be out of form, and has not been picked since, with South African limited-overs captain AB de Villiers the new wicket-keeper.
