Dalmau is a town and a nagar panchayat in Rae Bareli district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India.

Geography

Dalmau is located at 26°04′N 81°02′E / 26.07°N 81.03°E / 26.07; 81.03.[1] It has an average elevation of 115 metres (377 feet).

Cultural significance

It is holy place on the bank of river Ganges. The famous poet Surya Kant Tripathi 'Nirala' wrote poems sitting on the Top of the fort built by the King DalDev.[citation needed]

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Dalmau had a population of 8968. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Dalmau has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72% and, female literacy is 53%. In Dalmau, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
