Dale Shuttleworth (born 5 August 1964) is an Australian Liberal National politician who is the member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland for Ferny Grove, having defeated the Minister of Health Geoff Wilson at the 2012 state election.[1]
In May 2012, shortly after his election win, Dale was appointed as a member to the Health and Community Services Committee[2] (HCSC) which includes portfolio areas of Health, Community Services, National Parks, Sport, Recreation and Racing and Aboriginal, Islander and Multi-cultural affairs. Dale also serves as an advisor to the Minister for Science, Information Technology, Innovation and the Arts[3] as part of the portfolio backbench committee.
Dale returned to Queensland following his discharge from the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) in 1994. He served with the Navy for 12 years, gaining qualifications in Electronic Engineering. After leaving the Navy he furthered his study, completing a Graduate Diploma in Business Management through Deakin University and the Company Directors Diploma through the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Prior to being elected as the State Member for Ferny Grove he was employed with an Australian software development company, where he was successful in business development and account management. Dale has been a senior manager for a number of Brisbane based companies providing technical solutions in Communications, Flow (Water/Wastewater) monitoring and telemetry systems or automated machine guidance and GPS collision avoidance or geo-fencing applications.
Dale is an active volunteer[4][5] and community fundraiser[6]. He believes in practical assistance to the community and has provided a BBQ Trailer and marquees for use by community groups in his electorate for use at their local events.
In 2013 Dale Shuttleworth nominated the Head of Department at Ferny Grove State High School as a Queensland Culture Champion.
During the Australia Day Weekend 2013 weather events Dale actively campaigned for assistance and was able to secure outreach services from the Queensland Department of Communities and the Red Cross to assist residents at Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious.
