DYXL-TV, channel 4, is the sister station of Philippine television network of ABS-CBN Corporation. Its studios are located at the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Center, Lacson Sts., Bacolod, Negros Occidental and transmitter is located Mt. Kanlandog, Murcia, Negros Occidental.
History
- 1963 - DYXL-TV channel 4, the first television station in Western Visayas, was launched by CBN (later merging into ABS-CBN from ABS).
- 1973 - After the declaration of Martial Law by then-President Ferdinand Marcos, and the takeover of ABS-CBN by his crony, Roberto Benedicto, DYXL-TV reopened as DYBW-TV, and became part of the Banahaw Broadcasting Corporation (along with another ABS-CBN provincial stations, DYCB-TV 3 in Cebu and DYAF-TV 10 in Iloilo).
- 1978 - Channel 4 became an owned-and-operated station of the government-owned GTV (later the Maharlika Broadcasting System, now People's Television Network). The call letters were reverted to the original DYXL-TV.
- 1986 - DYXL-TV reopened under ABS-CBN, its original owner.
- 1987 - DYXL-TV carries the Star Network with a gold tri-ribbon channel 4 logo with a star.
- 1988 - TV Patrol Negros becomes the station's flagship newscast.
- 1989 - DYXL-TV started domestic satellite broadcasts to bring programs live from Manila.
