DYJV, operating under the brand Radio Boracay RB106, is a licensed FM radio station owned and operated by OneMedia Boracay Inc. (formerly CapriCom Production and Management) in the Philippines. Its studio located on Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan.

RB106 can be also heard on PCTV Channel 3 in Boracay.

History

106.1 Radio Boracay began broadcasting in July 2006, the first to combine contemporary hits (commonly referred to as ‘Pop’ or ‘Top 40’) with an ‘island music’ format steeped in reggae and ‘beach music’. It maintains a music philosophy focused on what it calls ‘cool beach music,’ as well as other hits and some relatively rare reggae songs.

In time, Radio Boracay also became the premier events station in Boracay, bringing the island's happenings to its listeners. Radio Boracay is also the first radio station in the Northwestern Visayas area to broadcast over the internet through streaming media technology.

In the last quarter of 2010, Radio Boracay became an affiliate of Metro Manila station Magic 89.9 as the station airs programs from Magic and Killerbee.

In April 2012 Radio Boracay became the first Philippines radio station to air the syndicated "Euro Chart Show" produced by A M I E Radio (now JNP Broadcast)and presented by UK jock, Dave Graham.

Personalities

Radio Boracay's air team is a melting pot of some of the radio industry's hardened veterans and some young, raw talents. Apart from hosting the station's daily and weekly shows, these jocks are also active in Boracay's social events. Even if it's not the only radio station in Boracay, Radio Boracay is the premier and only events station in the island. Its jocks are frequently tasked to host parties, launchings, promos, and other events happening all around the island.

The station has also taken it upon itself to be the local media watchdog of Boracay Island and its neighboring towns and island-provinces, and the source of information for its listeners. As of September 2008, Radio Boracay has launched its daily news and public affairs show, The Informer hosted by public journalist Jonathan Cabrera (formerly of Bombo Radyo - Kalibo and RMN - Kalibo).[citation needed]

Slogan

Radio Boracay has had many slogans in its near-two years of operation. "Life's a beach" was coined when it first hit the airwaves back in 2006, with it being a "beach radio" station in Boracay Island. Several months on, reggae took precedence in its programming and it came to be known as "the Home of Reggae and Cool Beach Music".

Currently, based on its music/programming format, Radio Boracay interchangeably uses two (2) slogans: "The Home of Reggae and Cool Beach Music" and "Cool Ur Soul".

Interestingly, its jocks even use their own: Robert Boom coined his, "Boracay's Only One," and Skywalker's is "the Coolest Music Station this side of Paradise."

This was later changed its slogan to "Boracay's Best Mix".
