DUO

DUO (Chinese: 双景坊) is a contemporary twin-tower integrated mixed-use development (comprising residential accommodation, offices, a hotel and a retail gallery) located on a site bordered by Ophir Road, Rochor Road and Beach Road in Singapore.

Designed by award-winning architect Ole Scheeren[1] and scheduled for completion in 2017, DUO will play a part in transforming the area into a new centre for the city.

DUO will be directly connected to the Bugis MRT station served by the East West Line and Downtown Line via underground pedestrian linkways, providing easy access to the Central Business District, Marina Bay and major shopping, dining and entertainment areas at Orchard Road and the Singapore River.

Site plans

As part of the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) Master Plan 2008,[2] the Bras Basah, Bugis, Ophir-Rochor area is planned as an arts, cultural, educational and entertainment hub. The Ophir-Rochor Corridor is identified as a ‘Growth Area’ that will feature a dynamic mixed-use cluster to complement the Marina Bay and Raffles Place business districts.[3]

DUO's two towers will be transformed into lighting sculptures with a unique exterior lighting design that will accentuate the development’s architecture at night time, as part of URA’s Night Lighting Master Plan. The vertical façade of the residential tower will incorporate more than 35 km of linear LED, with custom power consumption to meet Green Mark requirements.

DUO was recognised internationally with a Silver award in the “Best Futura Project” category at MIPIM Asia Awards 2012.[5]

Ole Scheeren was the lead architect on projects such as the CCTV Headquarters and Beijing Television Cultural Center in Beijing, and The Interlace in Singapore.
