Cut (also known as Paso or Paso Switch) is an unincorporated community in Houston County, Texas.[1] Cut is located on Texas State Highway 19 6 miles (9.7 km) south of Crockett. The community was founded in 1872 as a stop on the Houston and Great Northern Railroad; it was known at first as Paso or Paso Switch. The town became Cut in 1900, and a post office by that name opened in 1903. The post office closed in 1918, and the community began to decline in the following decade. By the 1990s, Cut had been abandoned.[2]
