Cupriavidus laharis is a gram-negative, oxidase- and catalase-positiv hydrogen-oxidizing, aerobic, non-spore-forming, motile bacterium with peritrichously flagella from the genus of Cupriavidus and the family of Burkholderiaceae which was isolated from volcanic mudflow deposits on Mt. Pinatubo on the Philippines.[3][4][5] Colonies of Cupriavidus laharis are opaque and white.[6]
