Cuckoo is a British sitcom which began airing on BBC Three on 25 September 2012. Written by Robin French and Kieron Quirke, it stars Greg Davies, Andy Samberg, Helen Baxendale, Tamla Kari and Tyger Drew-Honey.
The series launch became BBC Three's most-watched comedy launch, beating the record set by Bad Education which debuted the previous month.[1] Tyger Drew-Honey has said that there will be a second series [2] which was later confirmed by BBC Three. This later looked uncertain due to Andy Samberg's busy schedule, but in August 2013 the BBC told Digital Spy that they were still looking to go ahead with a second series, with them looking at a 2014 transmission.
On 10 October 2013, it was announced that an American remake of Cuckoo would be made.
Plot
Cuckoo is set in Lichfield, Staffordshire[3] (external scenes are mostly filmed in Slough), home to the Thompson family. When Ken (Davies) and Lorna (Baxendale) collect their daughter Rachel (Kari) from the airport, they learn that she has returned from her gap year having married Cuckoo (Andy Samberg) - an eccentric American 'hippy' with an all-loving attitude, who does not have a job and loves to take drugs.
