Crossings Christian School serves students in the greater Oklahoma City, Oklahoma area. Based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the school serves approximately 900 students.

There are four divisions within the school: Crossings Upper School, Crossings Middle School, Crossings Lower School, and Crossings Preschool.

History

Crossings opened as a preschool program in 1998 as a ministry of Crossings Community Church at its former address at 2600 NW 55th Place, when it was Belle Isle Community Church. When Crossings Church moved to its present location (14600 North Portland Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73134), the school moved along with it to their 3rd floor, where the middle and high school youth groups meet on Sunday mornings. As time went on and more grades were added, it became evident that more space was needed for the school. In 2005, Crossings relocated to and opened their first building, now the Lower School, at 14400 N. Portland Avenue, close to its ministry arm. In July of 2008, Crossings was accredited through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) after a two-year accreditation process. Construction began on the Upper School in November 2008,[1] and in 2011, Crossings Upper School graduated its first senior.

Mission Statement

The mission of Crossings Christian School is to partner with parents and church to develop students into Christ-centered servant leaders who are academically and spiritually prepared for college and life.

This mission statement can also be described as "The CCS Way".

School Scripture

"Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave -- just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Matthew 20:26-28

Construction

In 2005, Crossings Lower School opened at 14400 N. Portland Ave., their current location. In 2007, Crossings Lower School added eight classrooms to the Lower School. In 2010, Crossings Upper School opened across from the Lower School and a Gymnasium and Event Lobby were added to the Lower School.

Future

Currently, the 5th and 6th grades are now housed in Crossings Community Church. There is no Middle School building, however, plans are underway for construction of a Middle School building due to the increasing number of Middle School students. There will also be an athletic complex including a baseball diamond, six tennis courts, a football stadium with a track around it, and a multipurpose facility. Construction on the athletic complex is in progress and is expected to be finished soon. The construction of the Middle School will begin soon. The entire construction process is anticipated to take 18 months and will total up to $13 million, to be paid through an ongoing capital campaign.

The school also utilizes a newly renovated venue (called The Venue), formerly a gymnasium, which is located at the church. The school uses this for theatrical productions, the first performance at The Venue being "Beauty and the Beast" in the spring of 2013. Not included in the current capital campaign, a stand-alone auditorium is being thought out and planned.
