Crafton Wallace (born April 15, 1972) is an American mixed martial artist who currently competes as a Middleweight. He formerly fought for the UFC, Strikeforce and King of the Cage.
Background
Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Wallace is a United States Army veteran, enlisting after high school. Wallace was active in martial arts before transitioning to Muay Thai in 1999. An accomplished striker, Wallace has held the 2003 ISKA Middleweight Muay Thai Tournament Championship as a professional, as well as the 2004 ISKA Cruiserweight Muay Thai Tournament Championship as an amateur.[1] Wallace is also known for competing for the Miami Force in the World Combat League, which is a kickboxing organization promoted by Chuck Norris that only allows strikes above the waist.
Mixed martial arts career
Early career
Wallace began his professional mixed martial arts career in smaller shows, going 7-1-1 and ending the majority of his wins in the first round. In 2006 Wallace fought Ray Routh at Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Gracie, where he won via KO (knee) early in the second round. Wallace then won three more fights by stoppage before signing with the UFC.
Ultimate Fighting Championship
Wallace made his UFC debut on August 17, 2006, he faced Martin Kampmann at UFC Fight Night 6, losing via rear-naked choke submission in round 1. Wallace was released from the promotion after his submission loss to Kampmann.
Wallace then won his next two fights by stoppage before returning to the UFC against future Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nate Marquardt at Ortiz vs Shamrock 3 - The Final Chapter. Wallace was submitted in round 2 and moved to 0-2 in the UFC. Wallace was again released from the promotion.
Post-UFC
After being released from the UFC, Wallace then won his next 5 fights mostly by submission before losing to Reggie Orr, Waachiim Spiritwolf and Patrick Côté in succession.
