The museum seen from Kongens Nytorv

Copenhagen Amber Museum (Danish: Ravmuseet) is a museum on Kongens Nytorv in central Copenhagen, Denmark. It is owned by House of Amber.

Building

The building is a former merchant's house which was built some time during the late 17th century. Its current appearance is largely due to an adaption in the 1780s which added an extra floor and the Mansard roof. The building consists of three bays on Bredgade, four bays on Kongens Nytorv and two bays on Store Strandstræde. Another adaption in 1904 moved the entrance to Bredgade.[1]

Exhibition

The museum holds a large collection of amber antiques and artefacts. The collection also includes some of the world's largest pieces of Baltic amber and a selection of entombed insects from prehistoric times.[2]
